Connect Your Custom Domain

Move from the free your-brand.turboit.uk subdomain to your own. The DNS records to add, how SSL issuance works, and what to update afterwards.

Your raffle site launches on a free your-brand.turboit.uk subdomain so you can ship the same day. When you’re ready to run ads, you’ll want your own domain — it converts better, looks more legitimate to first-time buyers, and decouples your brand from us. This page walks you through connecting it.

Before you start

  • You’ve already bought a domainfrom a registrar (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Cloudflare Registrar, etc.). If you haven’t, see Buy Your Domain first.
  • You have admin access at that registrar — you need to add DNS records.
  • Your setup checklistis at the Custom Domain stage (other tasks first → finalise domain last so we don’t chase email DNS before brand is set).

Step 1 — Start the connection in your SaaS portal

  1. Go to app.turboit.uk → Setup → Custom Domain.
  2. Enter your domain (e.g. stardustraffles.co.uk). Apex domains and www. subdomains are both supported.
  3. Click Add domain. We’ll generate two DNS records you need to add at your registrar: one for ownership verification, one for the live site.

Step 2 — Add the DNS records

Log into your domain registrar and find the DNS or Manage DNSsection. You’ll add two records:

  1. A TXTverification record we’ll show you. Cloudflare uses this to confirm you own the domain.
  2. A CNAME (for www.) or A record (for the apex domain) pointing at our edge.

Copy each value precisely — DNS is unforgiving of stray spaces or wrong record types. We display Copy buttons next to each value.

Step 3 — Wait for propagation, then verify

DNS changes propagate to the global internet over 5 minutes to 4 hours (usually under 30). Once both records are visible, click Check statusback in your SaaS portal. We poll Cloudflare for SSL issuance automatically — you’ll see the status move from PendingSSL issuing Active.

Once Active, your site is live on the new domain. The original .turboit.uk subdomain keeps working as a backup; you can keep both pointing at the site indefinitely.

Step 4 — Update the canonical URL in SEO settings

Open Admin → Marketing → SEO and update the canonical site URL to your new domain. This ensures search engines index the right URLs and your Open Graph image links resolve from the brand domain, not the platform one. See SEO Defaults.

If something goes wrong

  • “DNS records not found” after an hour — log into your registrar again and check the records are live. Some registrars (e.g. GoDaddy) take longer to publish than others.
  • “SSL pending” for more than 4 hours— Cloudflare’s automatic SSL issuance occasionally rate-limits a new domain. Email info@turboit.uk and we’ll force a re-issue.
  • Apex + www both required. Add both records so customers who type either yourdomain.co.uk or www.yourdomain.co.uk land on your site.

Things that change after the switch

  • Email sending domain — if you set up Resend withyourdomain.co.uk, it works straight away. If you configured Resend against the .turboit.uksubdomain, you’ll need to re-verify. See Email Inbox Setup.
  • Apple Pay merchant association — the validation file is domain-bound. We re-deploy it for you automatically when the domain goes Active.
  • Google / Bing search— you’ll want to submit the new domain in Search Console. Old subdomain rankings don’t transfer automatically — if you’ve been running a few weeks, set up a 301 redirect (we can do this for you).
