Your Homepage, Block by Block

Hero slider, active competitions grid, daily-winner ticker, past-winners carousel, footer. What each block does and when to turn it on.

Your homepage is the first thing buyers see, and most of the decisions about what shows up there are toggles you control — not code. This page walks through every block on the homepage, what it does, and how to configure it.

The homepage, top to bottom

Open your raffle admin and you’ll find these sections under Admin → Brand, Admin → Marketing, and on each Admin → Competitions entry. They render in this order:

1. Top banner (optional)

A thin colour strip above the header — usually used to promote a flagship competition. Toggle on, set text + link, save. See The Top Banner.

2. Site header

  • Logo — uploaded via Brand. See Upload Your Logo.
  • Category nav — auto-built from your Product Categories. The order you set in Categories controls the left-to-right order here.
  • Account links — Sign in / My account / Cart. Always present, no toggle.

3. Hero slider

The big rotating section at the top. Two modes:

  • Static hero — one image + tagline + CTA. Simplest, fastest to load. Set your hero image in Admin → Brand → Hero.
  • Carousel hero — auto-built from competitions you mark “Show in hero”. Each competition becomes one slide with the prize image, ticket price, ticket progress, and end-date countdown. Customers swipe / arrows. Best for sites with 2–4 active flagship competitions.

Switch between modes in Admin → Brand → Hero. Toggle a competition into the carousel via its admin page → Visibility & placementShow in hero.

4. Active competitions grid

Auto-populated card grid of every active competition. Cards show prize image, title, price, sell-through bar, end-date. Layout: 2 cards wide on mobile, 3 on tablet, 4 on desktop. No manual ordering — sorted by end-date, soonest first.

5. Daily winner stats

Live ticker of recent instant-win payouts (£X just won, Y minutes ago). Strong social proof for cold traffic. Toggle in Admin → Settings → Daily Winner Stats. See Daily Winner Stats.

6. Live entry ticker (optional)

Real-time stream of “John just bought 5 tickets” events. Same social-proof mechanic at the entry level. Toggle in Admin → Settings → Entry Ticker. Pair with Entry List Display.

7. How it works (always-on)

A 3-step explainer: buy ticket → competition draws → prize awarded. Auto-rendered; no config. Convert-killer to remove, especially for first-time-visitor traffic from ads.

8. Past winners

Carousel of recent winners with their photo/name + prize. Builds trust. Populated automatically from Admin → Winners — when you mark a winner as “OK to feature” (and they consent), they appear here.

9. Footer

  • Social links — added in Connect Your Social Accounts.
  • Legal pages — Terms, Privacy, Free Entry. Set in Terms & Privacy.
  • Payment logos — Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard. Auto-shown if those methods are enabled in Cashflows.
  • Trust copy— “UK-based”, “Free entry route”, “Live customer support” — editable per site in Admin → Brand → Footer copy.

Recommended starting setup (Launchpad customers)

  1. Logo + colours set (15 min).
  2. One static hero image with a clear CTA to your flagship competition (10 min).
  3. 2–4 active competitions in the grid (you control this via the comps you create).
  4. Daily Winner Stats: ON after your first instant-win payout. Keep OFF on day 1 — an empty ticker undermines social proof.
  5. Past Winners: ON once you have 3+ winners; before that, the section auto-hides itself.

Common mistakes

  • Too many competitions in the carousel. Cap at 4. More than that and the carousel auto-advance feels frantic.
  • Forgetting to set the hero CTA link.If you don’t, it defaults to # and clicks do nothing.
  • Hiding the “How it works” section. It can’t be hidden, by design — first-time visitors need it and operators consistently underestimate that.
